About

GMAT® prep, rebuilt from the algorithm up.

Two founders, one belief: most GMAT prep tools are content libraries with a quiz wrapper. We started with the runtime — adaptive sampling, mastery analytics, pace targeting — and built the lessons to fit the platform, not the other way around.

Founders

Two people, one company.

Built from St. Gallen, Switzerland. No VC, no growth team, no growth hacks — just product and customers.

Wrote the first version of the adaptive engine. Spends his days arguing with the question-selection algorithm and building the parts of the platform that don’t exist on competitor tools yet. Believes the right software is worth more than the right textbook.

Designs the way Brightroom teaches. Every Library lesson — the worked-example reveals, the trap maps, the inline checks that won’t let you skip ahead — runs through his pedagogical model first. Believes lessons should explain less and demonstrate more.

Mission

Make great GMAT prep ten times more accessible.

GMAT prep is a wealth filter. Top self-paced courses run $800–1,200; live programs $1,800–3,500; private tutors $200–400 an hour. Students who can afford those tools walk into test day with a structural advantage — and that advantage compounds into MBA admissions, into job offers, into life trajectories.

We don’t think it has to be that way. So we’re building the tool that gives every test-taker the same algorithmic support, the same expert depth, the same feedback loop — at a fraction of the price. Pro starts at $199.

That’s the why.

Principles

How we build.

Four ideas we keep returning to when product decisions get hard.

01

Adaptive over curated

Your study path is generated from your live performance, not from a publisher's playlist. The engine picks per-attempt, weighted by mastery, weakness, and pace.

02

Visual over verbose

Concepts that animate, equations that reveal step-by-step, traps shown side-by-side with the right answer. We build for how brains actually retain information.

03

Software over scaffolding

Most prep is a textbook in HTML. We built the runtime first — adaptive sampling, mastery analytics, pacing — then layered content on top of it.

04

Outcomes over hours

The 715+ score guarantee isn't marketing. It's an alignment mechanism: if you don't hit your number after completing the program, your next 6 months are free.

Timeline

How Brightroom got here.

  1. 2023

    The founding read

GMAC announced the Focus Edition in March. Brightroom was founded in St. Gallen that September — two co-founders, no product, a written read of the new test. The first newsroom letter said what we meant to build, before any of it was true. The adaptive engine went into private alpha that December.

  2. 2024

    Engine, paid tiers, Mock

The engine became proper 3PL Item Response Theory in March, with Pro Monthly as the first paid tier. Pacing entered the selection loop in April; the nightly calibration pipeline followed in May. The Brightroom Mock Exam went into public beta in September. The first written guarantee shipped in November.

  3. 2025

    The Library and Ultra

The mastery vector became a first-class selection input in January. Practice, Roadmap, and Section Analytics shipped through the spring. Ultra launched in May with the absolute 715+ score floor. The Library opened in July with the first interactive lessons; more sections followed through the autumn.

  4. 2026 — today

    What it is now

Two-track guarantee written down properly in April. Section Analytics in private beta. The Library covers Quant and Verbal foundations, with twenty-two lessons live and a long-range Vision of two hundred and twenty. Built for serious test-takers who want both the algorithm and a human in the loop.
